Hello Chamber members,
It’s
been an amazingly busy year for us here at the Portsmouth
Area Chamber of Commerce, thanks to our members of course!
Eleven new members just this month.
I
want to remind everyone that membership renewals will
be going out in mid-November. Be sure and get yours
in early. Names of all renewed members will be printed
in the January/February newsletter.
Our
members have graciously hosted 12 Business After Hours
this year. If you’re interested in hosting an after
hours event, give us a call at the office. There are
only two openings for 2012. Special thanks to American
Savings Bank, Party Connection, Scioto Ribber, Ron LeMaster
Insurance, Glockner Honda/Toyota and Shawnee State University
for hosting the past few months. We’ve had great attendance
and are seeing many new, active members.
We
have begun a new Leadership Portsmouth class with 20
participants representing several of our members. We
have also started working with a new Student Chamber
group. This group consists of high school seniors throughout
the county. We coordinate activities for the group with
the Community Action Organization and model their sessions
after the Leadership Portsmouth program. Both groups
are awesome to work with and our goal is to expose them
to many new things in Scioto County.
The
Chamber’s annual golf scramble at the Elks Country Club
was a huge success again this year. We had 22 teams
- that’s up a few from last year. We couldn’t have asked
for better weather and we had a great group of golfers.
It was a perfect day!
There
was also a great turnout for the recent rededication
of the Branch Rickey Mural (see picture below). Some
maintenance issues made is necessary to repaint the
mural.
You
should have already received your 2011 membership renewal
invoice. The membership dues are based on the number
of employees at your business. If this has changed,
please call our office so we can update your information
and invoice you accordingly. We appreciate your continued
support. Be sure and get your membership in early. All
members renewing will be listed in the next newsletter.
We have a newly designed membership plaque that you’ll
receive upon renewal. Display it proudly.
