It's difficult to know where to start: maybe somewhere in the 60,000-acre Shawnee State Forest, or how about on a championship golf course? And don't forget the rivers, where you can go boating, skiing, fishing, or all three. At the Shawnee State Park, you'll find a beautiful lodge with all the amenities. The Shawnee State Park alone offers endless possibilities: hiking, horseback riding, and canoe trips, just to name a few. There are plenty of special events covering a wide range of interests: Some of the most popular are the River Days Festival, the Scioto County Fair and the nationally known Tour of the Scioto River Valley, which draws 4,000 riders and spectators. The truth is, Portsmouth offers so much to do, there's not enough time to do it all. Nevertheless, we certainly encourage you to try.

Shawnee State Resort & Forest: The Shawnee State Resort and Forest is Ohio's largest with over 66,000 acres. Outdoor recreation include hiking, fishing, boating, canoeing, camping, hunting, golf, tennis & swimming. Shawnee Village: Kenna Road-Located 6 miles west of Portsmouth on State Route 52. Facilities include electric, water, pool, recreation house, swimming, boating and fishing on Turkey Creek Lake. Full hookup on 75 sites.
